Robo cook makes omelet, chatters

Robots intruding our kitchens to become our cooks will soon become a reality. Take a look at this biped robot called the HOAP-3 that was originally designed by Fujitsu. Researcher Sylvain Calinon and his team at the Learning Algorithms and Systems Laboratory in Switzerland have managed to teach the HOAP-3 to make an omelet. To teach the HOAP-3, the researchers actually guide its actions by holding it’s robotic arms and guiding it to perform the omelet making routine. The Robot’s internal memory stores all the routines and will then replicate these actions as and when required. The HOAP-3 will also talk to its masters as it performs these actions. If it encounters a difficulty and asks questions, the master can answer its query with Nintendo’s motion sensing Wii remote. Pretty cool! Though technology has advanced far enough to make robots cook for us, i will any day prefer a human being cooking for me. For now, take a look at this video we have lined up for you.
