The concept
Contaminated air particles are a prime factor triggering asthma and other respiratory disorders in adults and children alike in urban localities. Over the years, various air-purifiers have been designed to remove these particles of dust, fumes, pollen, insect-particulates and smoke causing harm. Yana Klimava, a Canadian designer working in similar lines has designed the Nuvola Air Purifier mainly for the asthmatic and allergic kids. The air purifier, shaped like a cloud, is attached on the ceiling of the intended room and can be operated by a remote control. Yana reflects that the nuvola is mainly targeted towards the ‘children under 19 years’…’while also suiting the needs of their parents.’

The inspiration
The Nuvola Air Purifier looks visibly inspired from the nature and is shaped like a cloud (or ‘nuvola’ as called in Italian). It is built on the lines of the ceiling fan, which gives it an enhanced reach and boosts the intended functionality of air purification in the children’s bedroom.

What’s different?
The air purifier is designed for asthmatic and allergic children and is attached to the ceiling, so it does not occupy ground space yet exercises full access to the surroundings. Made from ABS plastic, the body is shiny, impervious and rigid making it aesthetic as well as operational.

What’s in it for me
Its cloud like form is attractive and blends well with the children’s room rather than making it just one more gizmo in the room. The air purifier is also fitted with two fluorescent light tubes to function as a ceiling lamp.

The product comes with a remote with four rubber-insert button, which can be clipped on to the wall. Its operations are simple and can be easily performed by children and adult alike. It turns the filter on or off as well as control the light intensity.

The filter change indicator blinks light behind the handles of the filters requesting the parents to pull them out and change the air filters.
