Scrap and grow with this new design by Terra McAndrew

A garbage can may seem like the least potential kitchen item to show creativity with, but Terra McAndrew has come up with an extraordinary idea of adding a functional zing to trash collectors. With ‘Grow’, the trashcan designed by him, he aims to make the decaying process more pleasant and kitchen space look brighter. It’s a compact garbage system that asks one to push the toe pedal for adding kitchen waste. A membrane-like lid covers the trash and can be pushed in by foot to release all the foul air and turn it into a homogeneous mass.

The design includes an inner can, a toe button, an outer can called the planter area (all made of matte black high density polyethylene) and a silicone black-lid for the compressor function. The planter area is a transparent structure, and can be made home to colorful stones, pebbles, rocks or any kind of congeries you fancy. The area also includes plants that can be grown around it to actually do justice to the ‘scrap and grow’ concept.
