Blocking out the light

One of the most important features of your sleeping environment is the amount of light that is present. During the day it’s a good idea to get outside and be exposed to natural light for at least fifteen minutes. This helps your brain to recognise the difference between night and day. At night time, when you are trying to sleep then you should try and limit the amount of light around you.

In an ideal situation the room in which you are sleeping should be completely dark. If you are having problems making this happen then you may want to try using blackout curtains or wearing an eye mask. You should definitely try and eliminate all sources of blue light; the type that is emitted by electronic devices. This is why it is not a good idea to have a TV in your bedroom.
