Designers Victor Massip and Laurent Lebot of Faltazi have come up with an eco-friendly system that helps you recycle water and break down the waste by worms inside the kitchen. Dubbed Ekokook, the design incorporates three built-in micro-plants for three recycling functions. It incorporates storage containers for packaging, a reservoir under the sink for collecting water and a container where earthworms break down organic waste. Let’s talk about the three different micro plants in detail:
Micro-plant 1 (Solid wastes):
As we all know that the solid wastes do not have smell which means we can keep them for longer period of time. The receptacle for solid wastes have been broken down into five units for processing glass, paper, plastics, metals and miscellaneous waste. You can customize the units to suit your profiles and to interact with services offered by the community.
Micro-plant 2 (Water cycle):
For the water storage and recycling, there is a double sink that helps in retention; also, there is an intermediate reservoir below the sink and two pitchers to collect kitchen water that has no grease scum. The water thus can be recycled into clean water for the household plants. There is a double plug beneath the sink. Now, it’s the user’s choice to direct the water in the sink or to its destination simply by activating one plug or the other. The filter helps remove particles suspended in the water ensuring it is clean and good quality water. This way, we can save 15 litres per day.
Micro-plant 3 (Processing & recycling organic wastes):

It’s a sealed, autonomous composter that helps you bring the real live earthworms into the kitchen without fretting. Diluted with ten parts water, this composter makes a rich liquid plant food ideal for indoor and outdoor plants.
