The coffee machine by Francis Ken Nakagawa is definitely tiny and cute. It takes inspiration from the traditional shape of an old coffee pot. However, this old design has been amalgamated with modern functionality of the coffee machine to give it more importance in our lives. It is a perfect combination of traditionalism and modernity. The bottom of the coffee machine has 20 cm diameter, the top has 8cm and it measures 32 cm high. There is an open space to insert the cup/mug, which is 11cm high and the external structure is made of oxide steel.
The intend of this project was to develop a coffee machine that could compete with the Nespresso machines and also reach the growing market of young coffee consumers. And, the designer is a product design student at IED (Instituto Europeo di Design) in São Paulo – Brazil.
