Created by researchers at McGill University, the modular haptic floor tiles can be very well be translated as future of flooring. The tiles mimic the look, sound and feel of grass, snow and even pebbles under your feet. Touted as something ultimate for gaming, entertainment and other things like training and rehabilitation, the tiles have been made of deformable plate suspended on a platform. Between this are the sensors that detect the forces created by the user’s foot, so that the plate can give off the vibrations to simulate the feeling of being on different materials. And, it is the top-down projection and speakers that add the video and the visual touch.
