Thrive Hive and High Rise Wormery make terrace gardening more exciting

Thrive Hive and High Rise Wormery

Terrace gardeners just got one more reason to be happy. The all new Thrive Hive by Tom Back and High Rise Wormery by Ben Fursdon are a pair of handy new inventions that would make urban above-ground gardening (as well as the regular kinds) easier and more fun for every one interested in urban bee keeping and gardening.

A design student and a skilled woodcraftsman, Tom Back designed the Thrive Hive keeping in mind the requirements of hobby beekeepers who don’t plan on having a large scale apiculture project on their hands but rather a small-scale production on a terrace or backyard. The adjustable hive is insulated with entrances provided in the end board.

Adjustable/removable legs allow leveling as well as easy storage and transport. The thatched roof added insulation and combines the Kenyan top bar with a traditional skep bee hive making it more of a design along the lines of the traditional basket/cradle that was used for keeping bees.

The High Rise Wormery by Ben Fursdon, is an easy installation for the advanced gardener who can use worms to turn the food scrapes into compost and liquid fertilizer providing organic fertilizer for the garden. This also helps people maximize their food resources and also cut down on additional costs that store bought fertilizer can incur. Made out of household items, the wormery is easy to install and use.
