World’s first cardboard vacuum cleaner is here

Vax ev Vacuum Cleaner

Jake Tyler, from the Loughborough University (Britain), has made a vacuum cleaner out of cardboard. He seems to be deriving ways of being eco friendly and has come up with the machine called Vax ev . This work of the young degree student has been highly appreciated by the University and he has been aptly rewarded a place at the New Designers exhibition of the UK’s best graduate work.

Much to the appreciation of this nature-loving product, Vax, which happens to be the leading brand in floor care in UK, have decided to promote this invention of Jake Tyler. Vax was established in 1977 and is a powerful brand name for UK’s market. It has established a record sale of several billions in year 2010. Paul Bagwell, Director of NPD at Vax, says:

With sustainability becoming an increasing concern for manufacturers, the Vax ev shows just what can be achieved when young designers are encouraged to think creatively and push the boundaries of product design. It’s so important that manufacturers such as ourselves support young British designers like Jake, as they are they key to this country’s future success.

The cardboard made vacuum cleaner is very light weight and easily manageable. Avoiding contact with wet objects is supposed to increase its longevity. Its light weight makes it very portable. The panels of the cardboard are grooved (not glued to each other), giving the structure the much required compactness and sustainability. The parts are easily replaceable and the cost of manufacturing is only a fraction of the one incurred in making a machine out of plastic ( which a normal vacuum cleaner). The coating done on the cardboard is such that it would not catch fire easily.

The company, Vax, have decided to produce this vacuum cleaner in specific numbers for now. This combination of art and machine is expected to appeal all. Jake Tyler had worked under the company’s guidance for a year (in the company’s scheme) during which this product was made.

Initiatives like the Vax ev are commendable and proper usage of the renewable resources of nature. Let the product make its mark in the market by proper inputs from its users/buyer.
