3. Bari and Alberobello
Bari is a historically commercial and university city that annually draws a large number of expatriates. It offers a variety of professional prospects as a key economic hub in the country’s south. Famous for being at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and the Middle East, you will be amazed by the unique and busy environment in Bari. It is filled with pubs and restaurants and a very lively atmosphere. In this area you should also consider Alberobello, a small town that lies on the hills of the Itria Valley. Its most authentic and original element is Trullo, a curious rural dwelling with a circular plan and cone shaped roofs, realized through a stratification of flat stones, called “chianche”. The peculiar domes attract tourists and expats throughout the year. Aside the touristic area, there are actual houses with this shape where locals live.
