Since times immemorial, mankind has used cardboard for packing up things as cardboards have always been great packaging material. However, until now the usual fate of the cardboards has been of discard-ment after the packaging purpose was over. Not any more, as Italian designer duo who call themselves Double Ei have found out a way to remodel cardboards into pieces of living room furniture like chairs, sofa sets and tables.
The furniture is made of plain cardboard to a large extent with very little usage of other materials. Paola Argine and Christina Algati, the designer duo, had hitherto managed to built customized sofa sets by using cardboards in their earlier Carto Chic project. Their recent project carries on the same line of work where they have managed to use cardboard fan tubes and reshape them together to create sturdy chairs which look classy too.
The two tables and three chairs that have been modeled by the designer duo are composed of about 300 cardboard tubes of different heights, connected together by wire and made comfortable to sit at by plexiglass. Assembled together entirely by hand, these cardboard chairs are comfortable to sit on.
