Decorative ‘Hidden alarm clock’ by Matt Costello

Hidden Alarm Clock by matt-costello

Waking up with the sound of the screaming alarm clock is a daily ritual in most of the houses. While there are some who wake up after the alarm, there are also a few who prefer to switch off the alarm and snuggle back in the covers for some extra sleep. For such people, the Hidden Alarm Clock designed by Matt Costello might be the perfect wake up call.

At first glance, the alarm clock looks like an hourglass shaped decorative piece for table tops or a salt shaker. But, within its hourglass body, there is hidden the alarm clock. Costello has used ceramic for the body of the clock, while the caps at both the ends, have been made using cork. Slip casting, a technique used to produce potteries that are not made easily on the conventional wheel, has been implemented in the manufacturing of the alarm clock.

Apart from the materials used what makes this alarm clock a great addition to your home decor is the way the alarm clock functions. To turn it off in the morning, you just have to flip over the alarm clock, which means no extra buttons on the surface of the alarm clock.

Waking up in the morning with such a cute and minimal looking alarm clock is the perfect way to begin your day. And if not in the form of an alarm clock, you would probably love to have it on your table top as a decorative piece.
