Fiercely delightful Razorblade Flower wall light by Gabriela Ungur

Razorblade Flower Wall Light

Inspired by the Fibonacci sequence that is present in apparently random-looking patterns found in nature, the Razorblade Flower Wall Light by Romanian designer Gabriela Ungur definitely looks like the Sudarshna Chakra (the circular saw blade-like weapon possessed by Lord Vishnu – the ‘preserver’ in the holy Hindu trinity). We’re not sure if that was the exact image that the designer herself was going for, but it does look eerily similar to that since the light it projects on the wall makes it look like it was being drilled into the wall!

The 0.6 mm-thick mirrored surface of the stainless steel plates forms the ‘petals’ of the flower while the base was crafted using a 2mm basic stainless steel plate. Each blade was laser-cut to give it the fine, cutting-edge like finish and the lamp was assembled using an argon-based welding.

The Razorblade Flower Wall Light is a study in contrasts and the contrast couldn’t be more stark since its shape resembles a flower but the ‘petals’ are cast to give the semblance of razorblades! Moreover, the whole piece creates the illusion of movement although sadly, the razor blades do not move.

Thanks Gabriela Ungur!
