Hacks to Optimize Interior Design For Zoom Meetings

Optimize Interior Design For Zoom Meetings

You are probably working from home, and attending or conducting Zoom meetings on a regular basis. Your colleagues and clients will now be able to view your home, so the interior should be impressive. You can record your meetings with a screen recorder, and see what others see around you while the meeting is on. Check out these hacks to enhance your home’s interiors for Zoom meetings.

Hacks to optimize your interior design for Zoom meetings

1. Make the most of natural lighting

natural lightingLighting is crucial, so that everyone can see your face clearly. Look for the area in your home which has the best natural lighting, such as a window which is behind you, especially if there are other windows too. Adjust the artificial lighting before the meeting begins. To help you do this, you can record your screen with a free screen recorder.

You can be sure of more positive outcomes from your Zoom meetings when your face and expressions are clearly seen.

2. Set the camera level

The camera angle is very important, as the correct angle will bring out the best in your environment. If your camera’s angle is such that your face looks overwhelming or it disappears as a speck in the background, it will be quite distracting.

The camera should be at your eye level, so you should use a tripod or just place it on some books, to get the correct height. You will observe that your video looks much more balanced this way.

3. Get rid of the clutter

You may be proud of the knick knacks you have collected over the years, but these might give a completely cluttered look. Look closely, and remove chargers, wires, pencils and books out of the camera frame.

4. Introduce some greenery

Plants are a great way to add color in a natural way. They help in air purifying, increasing productivity and mood boosting. You can transform a dead, colorless background, by adding a potted fern in the corner, and some smaller indoor flowers and plants in colorful bright planters.

Why not go all the way and create a vertical indoor garden in your living room? It would look stunning and breathe some life into your home and meetings!

5. Avoid doorways and high traffic areas of your home

interference due to outside noiseAvoid sitting near doorways or have a door in the background, as a guest or family member might inadvertently appear on the screen. Opt for a background with a wall, and in a separate room, so that kids and other people do not participate in your Zoom meeting.

6. Keep the background simple

It is best not to use very colorful virtual or real backgrounds as they might be quite distracting. Solid backgrounds such as a textured wall, brick or wooden wall looks fine without any paintings hung on it. Neutral backgrounds work best.

However, if the wall in your background has no texture, then you might think about hanging some artwork on it, such as a big painting. It can reflect your personal taste and create interest. A small artwork does not have the same impact, unless you hang a series of small paintings. And try to wear clothes which do not clash with the colors in the background.

7. Showcase your personality

Layering artwork, books and adding an interesting vase are other inexpensive yet effective ideas to create the perfect background. The personal touch with personal items in the background makes your home office an attractive space.

8. Show off your book collection

If you love books, and have a bookshelf, this can be a perfect background. Check the camera frame and make sure that the books in the background are stacked up neatly, with some pretty decor items, and then a few more books.

Your Zoom meeting background or the interior design of the space should be personal, but should not be overwhelming. A minimal background makes your space look interesting yet professional.
