Illuminated Psychopomp: Rocking Lamp by Ghetto Picasso

Rocking Lamp by ghetto picasso
The creative genius behind the interesting Psychopomp Lamp is Ghetto Picasso who has literally breathed new life into a piece of ‘Gambiarra”, which in Brazilian means giving new life to waste or junk. In this case, the junk stuff happens to be a child’s rocking horse, and it has been recycled, reused, and then made into a lamp.

The idea for making this lamp comes from a painting by Henry Fuseli called “The Nightmare.” The materials that have gone into the making of this rather imaginative and illuminating device are basically junk stuff like a grill from a BBQ oven, some electrical equipment, a metal stand, and the very unique which rocking horse. These junk goods have been intricately put together to create a huge night lamp that can also serve as a table for drinks. Henry Fuseli’s painting essentially conveyed paranormal visitations during sleep and hence has been named “Psychopomp.” This word has a Greek origin and stands for spirits/deities that escort souls to the life after death.

The concept by Ghetto Picasso does appear to be a little quirky. Nevertheless, it is extremely well executed and an interesting piece of art.
