How about introducing wooden shutters to bathroom vanity lighting?

I am planning to make some adjustment to my present bathroom light fixtures. Currently I have six small bulbs across the top of the mirrors in my vanity. I am planning to mount wooden shutters in front of the light to filter the light and give different look to my bathroom. So, Is it safe to mount the wooden shutters in front of my bathroom vanity light fixture to filter light and hide the existing light fixture? I know that it will look great but I don’t want to take any chances of torching up my bathroom. So advice appropriately. Thanks.
