Lampduino Lamp: Decorative DIY lighting

led floor lamp

Pictured here is the lighting unit that was designed not with the ordinary aim of illuminating the interiors instead the creator of the lap wanted to come up with something that would tie the room together. Adding against the nice rug, he created the light fixture that looks fab! The lamp thus created was named 8×8 RGB LED fixture he calls the Lampduino.

The 8×8 grid lamp was made using leftover cardboard packaging which were later wired up the to the LED strands. The LED leads were wire wrapped instead of being soldered. After the LEDs were in put into place, everything was wired up to Colorduino, an Arduino derivative specially made for driving large quantities of LEDs. Also, a thin sheet of drafting film was placed on both sides of the board and it was mounted on a stand for display.

The lamp can be programmed to display about anything from color patterns to video game sprites and much more. Besides this, it can also be timed to music if one feels like.
Check out the videos pinned here. What do you think of the lamp? Personally, I find it amazing! Looks great and indeed can be a nice wall hanging if not standing.
