Sharp Corporation, the Japanese multinational corporation that designs and manufactures electronic products, in collaboration with NHK, Japanese National TV broadcaster, has recently unveiled 85 inch LCD with super hi vision. Sharp’s UV2A*2 LCD technology together with NHK’s expertise was used to create the world’s first direct view LCD with ultra-detailed, super-high-quality images.

The resolution of this Ultra High Definition prototype is 16 times more than that of a standard HDTV. It includes 33 mega pixels (7,680×4,320 pixels or 103 pixels per inch). The brightness of LCD is 300 cd/m2. NHK has been working on presenting super hi vision format since nineties and is expected to begin the trial broadcast in 2020. This super high vision TV will be revealed to public at NHK’s Science and Technology research laboratories at Tokyo from May 26th to 29th, 2011.
