Temperature Regulating Ceramic Tiles: Visionary Concept for Cooler Interiors by Ceracasa

Ceracasa, the renowned Spanish tiles company, has come up with two eco-friendly ceramic wall tiles: Lifewall and Bionic Tile, which utilize UV rays of the sun for converting the pollutant nitrogen oxide of the atmosphere to nitrogenous fertilizer for exteriors.

Presently, Ceracasa is developing a new concept temperature regulating ceramic floor tiles for cooler interiors that function uniquely in regulating the room temperature preventing it from shooting to intolerable levels. This new concept tile, named as Ecom4tile, has fused three important factors: ecological, economical and comfort, in a single tile. Each tile is provided with a special coating of nanoparticles that constantly regulate the room temperature to an optimum level. The automatic activation and deactivation property of these nanoparticles in releasing and absorbing heat depending upon the ambient temperature keep the interior cooler. The nanoparticles get activated releasing the stored heat to 21 Celsius and deactivate automatically when the room temperature crosses 22 Celsius preventing heating up of the interiors.

The functioning of these tiles is almost similar to that of the thermal mass of other building materials but with better energy saving and energy absorption capacities. The slow absorption and release of heat energy with extended heat retention period of Ecom4tile reduces the thermal conductivity of a building and prevents shooting of the room temperatures. Moreover, the automatic temperature regulatory feature of these tiles reduces the load of HVAC system reducing energy consumption and carbon emission to the environment to a significant extent. As a result, this energy efficient Ecom4tile also enables in lowering of the power bills of domestic and commercial buildings.

Ceracasa has been duly awarded the prestigious Alpha de Plata, silver medal 2011 at the Cevisama International Tile Show hosted by the Spanish city of Valencia for designing this unique energy efficient Ecom4tile.
