I guess there is one advantage of this technological advance. No matter how much we spend the electricity, we always have a plan B .i.e gadgets offering us the luxury to manage our spending (if the spending really goes out of hand). This time it is Intelligent Home Energy Management or the Home Dashboard Concept system from Intel. The idea behind the development was to give as much information to the consumers as possible, so that it encourages them to change their behavior. The most important feature of this system is the Touchstone, which displays peak energy times in a dial display. It is the red and yellow dashes on the dial that indicates peak prices, which in turn helps the users to choose cheaper times for major energy consuming events.

This home dashboard concept system comes with a small sensor that fits on a standard plug and a tablet computer. The tablet computer, having the appearance of a skinny iPad and featuring an 11.5 inch light emitting diode (OLED) touch screen is powered by the MeeGo OS and an Intel Atom processor. The small sensor searches for unique electric patterns of all the items that have been plugged in and then sends back the collected information to the tablet. The information is compiled in the form of logs for each item, showing the activity when they are in use.
