Exercising bike could generate electricity for your home too

generator bikes

Crown Plaza Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark has done the best thing possible to reduce its carbon footprint. It has offered its guests to exercise on the bike. You must be thinking, so? Well, exercising on the bike in this case generates electricity and helps them win free meal vouchers. All they do is exercise on the bike for just 15 minutes, producing 10 watt-hours of electricity, following which they get $36 meal voucher. So, I thought if people in the hotel can have such a great idea put to work, then why can’t it work in the comforts of our home? I am sure it can work equally well. Like in this case the bikes are connected to the generators with iPhone attached to each handle bar. The iPhone keeps track of the amount of electricity produced. I really can’t figure out the cost of installation in homes, but I am sure the cost will not be equal to or more than the benefit of producing electricity and having good health at the same time.
