Helix Lounge Chair design from Scancom

helix1

It stands out from the crowd, owing to its stylish and contemporaneously comfortable design. From Scancom, the concept was to use stretched steel mesh to lead the rejuvenation of a traditional conservative market of outdoor furnishing, using a unique production process that pushes the limits of the material used. Consequently, in the Helix chair a single piece of mesh has been used to form the entire internal form of the chair. The name “Helix” is the identity of a family currently consisting of a dining set and a lounge set; ( the item below is the lounge chair including the footrest). The lounge set is sold as two lounge chairs (with a footrest) and a side table, all stacked together in one box (the items stack with the back leg going through the seat).

In this Stretched steel mesh in 1.5 mm thickness is welded by press welding onto a 15.9 mm steel tube. The tube that forms the edge (“helix”), is CNC bended in a single piece, and all is coated in Scancom’s unique “Durasint” powder dip coating process, that leaves a 400 micron coating of 3 individual layers.
