Mob Lamp Series gives a nod to retro design

The Swinging Sixties have left an impression on modern society
that appears to be hard to replace. The mood of liberation and experimentation
and the spirit of breaking away from the restraints of convention have stamped
the era with an aura of friendliness and fun. Of late, the designs in vogue in the
1960s have been getting a lot of attentions through vintage finds as well as ‘60s
inspired fresh creations. One such endeavor is the scooter lamp series created
by design studio Swab Design.

Christened MOB, the lamp series is
a nod to the “mod” subculture from the 1960s which led an entire generation of
people into a whole new kind of design sensibility that was a stark break from the
tradition wood-based designs of the decades prior.

Each lamp in the series is made
using distinct materials and is given a distinct name too. The MOB WOOD lamps,
for example, uses raw ash and is matte white in color while the textured black
and soft touch wooden lamp with contrasting gold accents is called MOB VELVET.

Each
lamp uses a spherical metallic reflector inside the signature headlights which
allows the 20 watt halogen bulb to provide a luminescence beyond its wattage
capacity.
