Gone are the days when a luxuriant crystal bowl was all you needed to display your proud and polished fruit. Today, anything and everything is supposed to make statement about who you are and what is your stand on a number of social, environmental and political situations like organic products, GM foods and whether third-world middle class receiving proper nutrition is really driving up the food prices in your town. But there still are a few of us who would still like to use the good old fruit bowl as a safe and proper place for keeping the fresh fruit out for the family to grab on route to their respective destinations every morning. This INOUT Fruit Bowl, though quite extraordinary-looking, is actually a handy and airy new take on the traditional design. Inspired by natural processes (don’t ask me which ones ‘cause the designer of this thing failed to specify THAT little detail!), the leaf-shaped bowl features a concaved end and a perforated one, both of which can be used to stash your week’s purchases. While the low-lying part of the bowl can be used to ripen fruits faster, the airy perforated part can be used to extend the fruits’ shelf life. What an idea!
