This is the Skybed, a contemporary interpretation of a canopy bed by German designer Hannes Grebin. In this canopy bed concept, the designer tries to combine post-modern design concepts with the ultimate in luxury and he does so quite successfully. The bed bears both modern as well as traditional design features. The Skybed has been designed as an ultimate interpretation of relaxation furniture.
The concept of the Skybed was developed for the Yanko RELAX Design Competition. But no matter how much we talk about the design features of this bed, the best thing about this bed is, in fact, its lack of design and simplicity. The designer has done wonderfully well not to overdo the various design elements and has successfully managed to keep them in balance.
The Skybed stands on eight legs which also act as the stands for the canopy overhead. A small staircase has been added to give that royal approach to the designing of the bed a perfect finishing touch. The canopy of the bed looks like a fishing net and goes very well with the overall appearance of the bed.
In fact, the choice of this particular canopy completes the look of the Skybed in a way. You will get to see intricate designs on almost every aspect of the Skybed which has been done to complete the royal look of the bed. The Skybed is a true personification of royalty, comfort and luxury combined in one single piece of furniture.
