Turn any surface into touchscreen with Intel’s new project

touchscreen

A new research project from Intel has the capability to transform any surface into touchscreen. So, as per this technology, you can pass the trend of putting PCs in your kitchen as quite ancient and can perhaps tap on counter-top or a table to pull out your lists. Using real-time 3-D object recognition, it builds a model of everything that is placed on the counter. It means when you put a thing on the counter, it will be identified and a virtual menu, which would include the recipe for that thing will be shown. Beverly Harrison says, “ The computer in real time builds a model of the color, shape, texture of the objects and runs it against a database to identify it and it requires nothing special to be attached on the steak or the pepper.”

This project is not just limited to the kitchen. May be a table in the living room could also be transformed into a touchscreen, which would show the menu for your entertainment in the form of music, Videos etc. or maybe even a better scenario would be the vanity table in the bathroom, which recognizing your medications would let you manage all your medicines. These virtual islands are created with the help of especially designed algorithm and a camera set up, on any surface, be it wood, granite or glass. And, you can use the touchscreen even if your hands are dirty.
