Overview
Moscow based designer Igor Lobanov has created a mysterious, striking, unusual and highly interesting flat-pack chair. It beautifully features a zip-together design, which doesn’t only look highly plausible but also quite brilliant.
The components
Wormhole Folding Seat is made from combining flexible and stiff frame along with stretchable elements that makes this chair quite strong and lightweight. It features two identical racetrack-like structures, which supports a stretchy material. Furthermore, it also has two zippers that run through perimeters and the two holes in the center.
How it works?
Each of the rounded and flat pieces of this chair gets easily folded into a C shape that can be completely zipped together. This procedure ends up forming a self-supporting place to sit and relax.
Wormhole Folding Seat is indeed a genius and interesting concept, which even earned itself a Red Dot Design award, 2011.
