Interesting wall clock designs for modern spaces

Time has always fascinated man. It has always been an enigma that presents more mysteries, the more you learn about it. The fascination for time has also projected on to the design of time pieces as well. With modern designers coming up with newer innovations to depict this ancient concept, we have a host of clocks with a look of novelty and modernity. Here, we present nine such clocks that perfectly fit into modern spaces.

Aspiral clock

This is simply a marvelous idea for a clock. Everyone would be familiar with a childhood toy in which there would be a small ball that had to move through a maze of concentric circles to reach the center. That fun game is the basis of this clock. The circular clock moves while the ball stays at the bottom due to gravity. There is a spiral path which is dotted with the time and the ball automatically travels this path for twelve hours, by which it reaches the center. Then it drops through the hole there and starts the twelve hour journey again. For $545, this clock is a novel and playful way to pass time.

Random Time Infinite Wall Clock

Here comes a cool or annoying concept that depends entirely on your mindset! Its appearance is cool but the annoying thing is that the clock makes it very difficult to actually tell the time. You have to concentrate on the needles to know the time for the numbers are rarely in their proper places. The numbers can be simply scattered randomly on the wall. Chaos theory lovers can rejoice at this clock for it combines randomness, order and time!

Exploding Wall Clock

When we talk of explosions, do not run for the fire extinguisher! This concept is merely an interesting way to add some dynamism to your kitchen or rooms. The exploding wall clock concept has been designed by the famous Campana Brothers to be visually pleasing and safe. Chrome plated steel rods give the clock an effect of exploding stars. And to tell the time, you just have to peer at the red needles in the center. Again, here is chaos but there is perfect order too.

Math Wall Clock

Here is a clock that features a dozen mathematical problems! The good news is that anyone who knows the dial of a simple clock, will be aware of the answers for the problems! A wonderful addition to the maths addict’s room, this clock features elementary mathematics testing equations in place of the numbers. Made of metal and painted in black with white lettering, the clock resembles a classroom blackboard. Its black and white colors make it blend into the decor of any room. It will definitely be a lovely add on to a study or home library.

Copper Tea Pot Wall Clock

An antique at $55! It seems like a joke. But you would forgive anyone who gets fooled by this very real looking ‘antique’ copper teapot. It is only when you see the clock on it, you will realize that it is not an antique piece. The English teapot has Arabic numerals embossed in copper and the hands of the clock are in gold. It keeps accurate time with the help of an ‘AA’ battery. It is a quartz clock built in. The pot will add charm to any mantel, hallway or kitchen.

Inspiration Design Wall Clock

Is it dinner time already? This spectacularly designed wall clock is unique and highly creative in its looks. Spoons and ladles constitute the body of the clock. The dial is made of a red plate with bright white numbers. The minute hand is a spoon and the hour hand is a fork! Any ‘time’ now will be dinner ‘time’! This clock is bound to add specialty and brightness to the kitchen or dining hall. This could also be a very wonderful gift for those furiously working individuals who often forget to eat on time!

Turntable wall clock

And for the DJs and wannabe DJs out there, here is something inspiring that is worth your ‘time’. This clock has been designed creatively as a DJ’s turntable. It also looks like an old gramophone player. The ‘turntable’ or ‘gramophone record’ is the clock face and dial. Set the needle of the gramophone player to the time when you want to sound the alarm! A cool design to lend a touch of antiquity to any space.

Blank wall clock

Marti Guixe for Alessi have come up with a DIY concept to tell time. It is also a perfect accessory for some ‘fun time-activity’. The entire face of the clock is a writing board which can be rubbed clean easily. In the center is the word, ‘is’ and one is expected to make connecting sentences. You can play more games by trying to form a sentence that hints at a time. “Play while time passes”, seems to be the motto of this clock.

Bubble CloX

Taking time from the two dimensional surface to a three dimensional one, is this novel bubble clox concept! The designer, Darien Lee seems to have thought out of the box into a new dimension. The hour hand, minute hand and second hand wrap around a colorful ball which acts as the dial. Einstein would have been proud of this time-bending in space! The balls come in different and bright colors and suit any space, adding life and charm.
