Nordic light arrested in PIA light work by Sara Gressberg

Pia

The Designer

Pia is a light work project designed by Lillestrøm, Norway based Sara S. Gressberg undertaken while graduating from the Oslo and Akerhus University college.

The Overview

To relax and enjoy the peaceful serenity of Nordic skies, Norwegian product designer Sara Gressberg has designed the Pia light. It is aimed to be used for mood lighting and comes with a visual expression of a bottled light complete with a flattened base with a cork cover. It bottles in the flavor of the translucent natural light display of the aurora borealis of the Scandinavian night skies. The light is diffused and is very delicate, thus highlighting the designer’s idea of light as seen through a frosted window-glass pane.

What’s unique

The Pia light is aimed to create an easy environment with a delicate illusory effect and setting the mood indoors without too much harshness of its presence.

Inspiration

The light has been vastly inspired by the the northern lights that light up night sky of Norway. The designer further emphasizes that the effect is directly rendered from the melting or fading effect of the aurora borealis with the approach of the morning justifying its faded white colored light. The aurora borealis lights up the night sky nearer to the north pole and is also called as northern lights. It happens when energy particles from the sun collide with the Earth’s magnetic field.

High Points

The thought behind the light as well as the inspiration is enough to conjure an aesthetic delicate environment. It not only reaches out to sooth our stressed mind and body but also helps us relax in a comfortable setting. The pendant light is a perfect addition to your living space to create a sensual, romantic and pleasant ambiance. Its simplicity also goes a long way to establish it as an effective yet uncomplicated light fixture.
